Author’s Story
Dr Aswini Misro is a surgeon, futurist, medical innovator, author and clinical researcher. He has been a part of many telemedicine and artificial intelligence projects, to envision this idea and to bring the healthcare, especially cancer care, to remote and disconnected communities.
He spoke at the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster, on his vision of a clinical artificial intelligence matrix and futuristic solutions. He has written a book on the current healthcare challenges titled, “Medical Malpractice – How to keep yourself out of trouble?” that we face as a society while receiving the medical care. This book has many eye-opening instances of day-to-day problems that one has to face in developing and developed countries. His book was inaugurated in the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster on the occasion of International Medical Day.
His futuristic visions have received many appreciations. His ideas and thoughts about mobile healthcare and how mobile technologies can revolutionise the way we provide and receive healthcare received the best presentation award at International Healthcare Informatics summit at Istanbul, Turkey.
His the father-in-law and mother-in-law were the victims of poor cancer(tumour) care and therefore one of his area of work is to standardise the cancer care and improve the reach offer quality cancer services by use of a cancer artificial intelligence, patient education and training the next generation physicians with evidence-based medical practices. His work has been supported by many politicians, leaders, professors and eminent doctors from London and many parts of the world. One of his key messages in all his TV and radio programmes is to make the general public an educated consumer of the healthcare system, thereby mitigating the burgeoning incidences of medical malpractice, medical overtreatment, medical overdiagnosis and misdiagnosis.
His current research work includes virtual physician assistant, diagnosing mental health issues from key human outputs, medical decision support systems, cancer artificial intelligence matrix and use for wearable technologies to improve health conditions. He researches in various London hospitals on challenging areas of healthcare at many Top London Hospitals including the Newham university hospital and Bart’s health care, Northwick Park and Hillingdon hospital and Kings College London. His last web conference on Clinical Cancer Artificial Intelligence was attended by many eminent personalities like Baroness Dorothy Thornhill, House of Lords and Lord Swinfen, House of Lords, Member of Artificial Intelligence Committee and many other political leaders, innovators and healthcare professionals.
He firmly believes that man and machine can work in synergy providing the man with the pleasure of working and thereby massively improving the working condition and job satisfaction of the doctors while improving the safety standards and treatment outcomes for patients. He is currently writing a book titled, “Your Future Doctor May Not Be A Human Being!”.
Currently, he is partnering with governments, non-government organisations, cancer research organisations and healthcare organisations to steer the current healthcare towards safer healthcare by embracing futuristic technologies and changing the legal infrastructure to welcome these innovations to this world. His background and training are in gastroenterology surgery with a special interest in breast cancer and vascular surgery. He has the credit of performing the first Laparoscopic Radical Nephrectomy of Nepal for which he has been awarded the Certificate Of Excellence by the World Association Of Laparoscopic Surgeons.
Dr Aswini Misro, a Fellow of American College of Surgeon(FACS) and member of many international prestigious national and international organisation and societies, has worked in the NHS for around 9 years as a general surgeon with special interested in minimally invasive surgery, gastroenterology, endoscopy and vascular surgery. He has total 18 years of experience of working in India, Nepal and UK in various positions including resident, registrar, consultant, Assistant Professor & Associate professor in GI endoscopy, Minimal Access Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Lower GI Surgery, Hepatobiliary surgery, Breast Endocrine and Vascular surgery. He has worked in various premier institutes including Kings College Hospital, London, All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi & Grant Medical College, Mumbai. He is an excellent knowledge about the working of NHS and the problems it is facing currently both as a patient and as a doctor.
