The delayed diagnosis can disastrous in terms of survival and quality of life; The heart-rending story of Beth speaks everything for itself.
I was humbled by a magnanimous and attentive audience of more than 100 people who cheered during the book release function organised today. Apart from the presence of professors, dignitaries and healthcare professionals, the most noteworthy and inspiring part of the function was the crowd engagement during my presentation.
Several pertinent questions related to current standards of medical practice, the challenges we face in day to day life and the way forward were discussed at length. These discussions helped me to sense the crucial healthcare issues of medical errors, delayed diagnosis and lapses that people are facing at large without much of reprieve.
So much enthusiasm and positive vibes coming from the audience led to the presentation being carried beyond the allocated time. Additional time had to be given to the audience to listen to their issues. I was surprised to find several issues affecting healthcare delivery. Without finger-pointing any particular person or organisation, the positive way forward as a generation and overcoming the challenges at hand was the main focus of the discussion.
One of the striking features were the words of support coming from the elderly section of the audience. Contrary to my expectation, the forward-thinking attitude not only surprised my team but also gave us a powerful message to pursue the project of clinical artificial intelligence more diligently.
